What if a defending champion in boxing today (ie the heavyweight champion) at retirement while retaining the title? thus, retirement or for some reason was medically unfit to fight. Like a car accident that had left them disabled. The defending champion is not available or can not defend his title, and therefore, how to transfer the title to someone else?
Well, if the competitor is injured or for some reason his career is over and it can not obtain a license for boxing or say has a communicable disease, then the title is vacant. and the number 1 and 2 contenders fight for the vacant position. This applies to all agencies of punishment. thats why boxing is struggling to find a champion when you retired / incapable of fighting and has held two or more belts (Lennox Lewis is a great examble)
Now, if the champion could not box for a period of time due to injury (say, 10 months), then they have an intermediate (BS / price) champion.
After X amount of time without a title fight against champion would be canceled and once that happends number one and two ranked contenders for the title.
the two top contenders would he battle for the title and the winner is
I do not
