Jiu Jitsu Gi, also known as kimono Jiu Jitsu, is the uniform Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners wear during training. The traditional colors are white, blue and sometimes black. colored kimonos, others are more rare. It is made from a particular type of fabric that ensures no tearing of any kind during the training. They are made to catch hold, pull, throw, etc. All Brazilian Jiu Jitsu GIs must be strictly using 100% cotton, so keep in mind that any company offers Gi with GI 100% cotton does not buy!

Jiu Jitsu Gi's are made mainly either light or heavy. However, these days, you will see special names companies Gi do for their new GIs such as gold, platinum, pearls, etc. The names usually associated with mild GIs are unique Weave, Pearl Weave, etc., and names usually associated with heavier Gi's are Double Weave, Gold Weave, etc. The names of Jiu Jitsu GI's are not really important, but what is important is their weight. For the competition, it is recommended to use a lightweight Gi then you can buy one or Pearl Weave. If you buy a Jiu Jitsu Gi Only for training, it is recommended to use a heavier armor or a Double Gold Weave. The weight of the Gi Jiu Jitsu is usually just a personal preference. There is no better than the other.

In all, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi's are just what Jiu Jitsu fighters wear to practice their martial art of submission wrestling. They are made of 100% cotton and are usually mild or heavy in the colors of blue, white or black. Now decide if you want a heavyweight or lightweight Jiu Jitsu Gi and purchase your own submission kimono. Train hard!
