Dynamo Boxing

Dynamo BoxingI was advised to "boost" my new dynamo (for a 1967 MGB GT) can someone tell me how this is done?

My ignition light stays on all the time (1967 MGB GT) is advised to buy new and try new box dynamo voltage regulator. New dynamo has not solved the problem but before buying a box controller I was advised to "revitalize" the dynamo, but I have not the faintest idea how this can help any one? or has anyone advice on the problem of ignition light. (First classic car and I learn as I go)
Cheers Scott

Yes ANDRAS is correct, but please do not coincide with the alternator that spoil the originality of the car.
good luck h

Unless you plan to show the car at events contest I would not worry too much about originality.
The generators are much more effective. What about converting to an alternator with a built in regulator and we look forward to better power / charging and lighting.
The main thing .... get it on the road and enjoy!
Oh .... and how Andra is just about the polarization of the Dynamo. I had to do the same on a VW Beetle.

Unless your car is 100% original and immaculate I convert to a generator that they are more reliable and more cost much more.
You do not need to permanently change anything on the car to do so.
Just get the alternator (like a mini) and bolt. you'll need spacers for the rear bolt / carrier. then you need to bypass regulations.
If you are a member of a club MGB someone tells you how to do (I do not remember the last car I did 10 years ago)

dynamo is a generator not an alternator new so it needs a residual magnetism to allow it to start working properly. You should have received instructions with it, discovering that all connect to the battery or battery and run it as an engine for a minute or two, then stops. lock the tree so it does not rotate and Energizer re just a second or two, then put all the rights and see what happens. Do you have a new voltage regulator at the same time? should have. TMM.

As Andra S said, touch the power cord into the generator for about 5 seconds several times and then try the engine. I changed the polarity of a dynamo in this way before getting an alternator as a generator is much more effective to provide the battery charge.

Remove the cables from two terminals, then take a direct line from the battery and touch the "F" terminal for about 5 seconds.

BTW it Polarize! Its to give residual magnetism depending on the polarity of the vehicle.

Does the car have a generator? Motorcycles have dynamos.

Energize the means to apply electrical energy, 6 or 12 volts DC.
