Karate Dummy

Karate DummyWhere can I find a good foot, mannequin to practice karate?

Do you have a freestanding punching bag or dummy? If yes, where did you find yours and you do not like it or dislike it? My 9 year old son took karate lessons for a little over a year now. It would be nice to have something permanent free (I can not hang a bag from the ceiling) that he could kick and punch. It is an older child (about 5'4) and more.

For a 9 year old a bag Standing plain is sufficient. You can find in sports stores or you can try a sport used to store goods such as sports play-It-Again.

If there's always the BOB model, which seems quite standard, I suggest you just get a heavy bag from your local sports store and get a booth to hang from. This way, you could put it in the backyard, garage, or wherever you have room.

The dummy BOB is available in most sports stores, I looked into. It is the face and torso of a man on a sand adjustable. The base can be filled with water or sand to make it more stable. If it's good, it's not very padded on the back, while some techniques must be adapted to practice so you can hit where it will not hurt you.

As a kid, my mother has led a registered old sofa cushion to the tree outside. This is not very decorative, but it works and it's free.

I would check garage sales in the spring, since some of them were punching bags. See also gyms and karate schools in the region. See if they want to get rid of one. In particular, schools or gyms that are closing and the need to get rid of their old equipment.

Otherwise, you'll probably have to wait to spend money on bags. Sacks century master wave we have in my school are freestanding base that you fill with water. But if you get one of those, I recommend you fill it with dry sand, as opposed to water. The water seeps into bacteria, and when something leaks (note, when not if) it is going to smelly water leaks everywhere. You can get water, but the smell is here to stay, if it leaks on a carpet. Sand just sweep.

Here century site. They may be cheaper, but you can at least see what exists. See also local sports stores. They often Wavemaster bags.
