Personally, I'm sick of it. Especially overused stereotypes and fixed ideas, the way people assume that your personality may be because of your background or your interests, perhaps due to people's culture.
Here are a few I noticed portrayed in the media, most television programs:
in America if you're black, you have been seen in roles like a slave for most of the 20th century and your favorite foods are fried chicken and
watermelon, you live in a ghetto or uneducated, speaking in slang, clothing, "bling" and are involved in criminal gangs
The people of southern Europe such as Italy or Greece, as in my big Fat Greek Wedding, represented with more or less dark hair / eyes so that they all look alike to large families who own restaurants - Bull S ***, I have a friend who is of Italian origin, fair complexion with brown hair and no its not a Mafia family gangs or the owners of a pizza restaurant, so that 'she asked me things like that at all times at school, even by some of our teachers!
Asians being considered as super intelligent and good at school or doing martial arts with a family who owns a convenience store or Takeway
the prejudices of the people:
Since 9 / 11 and London bombings Muslim fear that a person sitting in the bus or plane has some sort of explosive device hidden in his bag
I am 1 / 4 German and 1 / 4 Austrian, found it funny hello to the Nazis in front of me and ask if I was related to Hitler. Hahahahahaha .... not

I could go on and on. You can have different opinions, but this is my unique and personal, that ethnic stereotyping is a major cause of hatred and phobias of different cultures and ethnic groups. And the media does not help in perpetuating these kinds of ideas using ethnic stereotypes in film and television is, people might find enjoyable and funny, but at the end that reinforces the ideas. It makes me angry that some of us can not see beyond these ideas and discover that everyone, whatever they are based, as is the way people belonging to minorities and their culture are sometimes described as of course there may be lots of people who respond to stereotypes, but that does not apply to everyone. Who agrees with me?
