Private Martial Arts Lessons

Private Martial Arts LessonsCombining style Wing Chun Soft with Hard Style Martial Arts

I am one of those martial artists who have broken with my traditional routes and created my own system. This is not an easy road and there are many people who do not break this tradition. But my love for martial arts and my desire to seek truth and find the most effective techniques available do not leave me completely absorb myself in any one art. I took a lot of criticism, much of which comes from jealousy, but the results my students have seen, and after having survived for over 30 years in the martial arts industry, I know I'm on the right way.

My system includes my unique method of Wing Chun training. So I used my creativity to develop the system Wing Chun, I have great respect for the traditional roots of any martial art that I studied and great reverence for the men I've learned.

In my first years of study and training, I learned from several instructors after having spent many years with my master Goju Ryu Tamojoshi Sakamoto. My reason for this was to become a rounded martial artist. So I studied with the others at least to the point of brown belt for a basic understanding of differences. I did however, absorbed in the study of Wing Chun, learning the whole system Moyat, a teacher based in Chinatown in New York, taking private lessons with him.

I studied Wing Chun, because I wanted to learn a martial art of southern China and the balance of my history of training in "hard" styles with a "soft" one. I also want to work internally and expand on the philosophy taught by me Tamojoshi Sakamoto, master Goju Ryu. I remember many times dinner with him in the evening and write down everything he said. He taught me two great lessons. The first is that the enemy is in, I put in barriers between success and myself. The second was Narano-kan-nin, Surgi-kan-nin. This means that forgiving the unforgivable news carry the burden of anger and hatred. The study of a "soft" style helped me to integrate these lessons about the physical, mental and spiritual level.

When I left school in 1980 Moyat, I did it on very good terms. I started to teach Wing Chun Moyat blessing, because I would not do it any other way. In 1987, Moyat came to my school in Norwalk and has organized a seminar in Wing Chun. He did this out of respect for me and my school to help deal with another Wing Chun school that created problems. The instructor of this school gave himself the title of "grand master", saying that he also studied under Moyat, which was not the case. Moyat also came to Norwalk, out of respect for our student-teacher relationship.

When I was training with Moyat, he had some problems with people coming to school to challenge her students. Students who attend group could not resolve the problem because at the time, he reserved some methods of training such as wooden dummy, and for his private students. I had been in confrontations like this in both the Dominican Republic that was old news to me. I fought all the guys who came to her school looking to cause trouble and finally put an end to this problem without anyone seriously injured.

My method of Wing Chun training is integrated into my system, so that my students have a well-balanced approach, not only in Wing Chun, but also to self-defense. This integration was never intended to disrespect or criticize my Wing Chun teacher or other instructor of Wing Chun. This is how I develop this traditional style to complement its sweetness with the hardness of other styles to create a well rounded martial artist. It is an approach that many have benefited and appreciated over the years.
