Am I too short to try Muay Thai Boxing? I'm 5'0 ", 21 years old female and I'm really interested in taking lessons in Muay Thai boxing, but I know it takes a lot of kicks and my legs are very short. However, I'm pretty flexible and I am willing to try if someone is willing to work with me. I can not do it for fun and get fit. Anyone have any tips or experiences to share? Thanks!
Go ahead. Do not let your size stop you from doing whatever you want to do. Just work with what you have. I'm pretty short for a guy, I'm 5'7. I just said the hell ... Height is something that I can not control, I control everything I can. So I packed on about 40 pounds of muscle and started doing Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, kickboxing and is the best thing that ever happened to me.
So I say GOOO FOR IT!
More than 21 years? I will work with you ..... =- P
If your legs are short, I do not recommend to be perfectly honest. You need your range with kicks and strength, if you're really determined to go ahead and try, you probably would not compete well in the Muay Thai boxing, but if it's just entertainment No 'there is no problem
no its fine. Sure the saying "this is not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog"
It is a good way to get fit and discpline practices while improving flexibility and mental toughness. You do not need to be big or rowdy behavior is not a requirement.
If you can find a good instructor, and then your size will not matter. He or she will learn to use your body to your advantage.
A note that I mention, Muay Thai can be very difficult on the body. Many people want to do Muay Thai, but do not want to subject their car to the intense training.
Since you said that you do for fun and get fit, I would certainly try, but keep an eye on the quality of Kung Fu or other martial art teacher / school that may suit you better
give it a try. you will not be able to become world champion or anythng but this should not prevent you from having a good time
No, you can do.
Just please remember from now that MuayThai Thai means fist, and the appellant Boxing Muay Thai or Thai boxing is incorrect.
No Are you not too short Muay Thai or any other martial art. Great Masters for many years often have been short guys. Their art has given them the advantage they had to defend themselves. People often underestimate shorter people. But they should not.
Good Luck
yeah I agree with other responders here just to go.
Size is not a factor. The Thai people are not exactly high. If you want to do something, do not let the rules stand in your way.
No, you're not too short. I trained Muay Thai in Asia and there are many women in the class who are not particularly large. I myself, I am 6 feet 3 inches and a half and I worked with a girl in Muay Thai, which I believe is approximately 5'0 "tall. It should not be a problem all.
See the King of Lisa she 5'5 "
