Thai Boxing Southampton

Thai Boxing SouthamptonWhich martial art is suitable for my size?

OK, I know this is a rather awkward question to ask, ii know that many people claim their martial art to be the best / most effective, without even hearing the other goals. So here's the info.

I'm 5'11 / 180
£ 168 / 76 kg

I would probably say I'm medium build, very broad shoulders.

Currently, I have decided to take yoga as a way to support my choice for flexability martial art, as well as help with my posture (I'm a computer geek)

The main reason I want to learn the arts Martal is self-defense and fitness, which in my opinion go hand in hand, if someone confronted me on the street, I'd be pretty happy to get a shot Rapid distraction, then PEG out of there.

If you want more information about my build so then I'd be happy to provide it. The latest martial art I think I did well was Thai boxing, but I'm not sure if there is anywhere in Southampton (England) where he teaches.

Ok ... So I look forward to your answers: P

I have many styles of martial arts and I found that there was not a good style thats for certain building. However, there are movements that work best with the other construction. Depending on the style of martial art that you want to do.
To stand, Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do, Karate or would be great for you. If you have a tummy, I would go with karate. If you have longer legs, you'll be much to Tae Kwon Do. If you're still in both, you'll be much to Muay Thai.
(I have abnormally long legs, so I'm really good at Tae Kwon Do)

To catch, I think you would be at Jui Jitsu. (I'm not answering any nature in particular.) Graci but seems very popular in these forums.
I do not recommend aikido or judo because they are both derived from Jui-Jitsu and have been dumbed down so as not to hurt people. Since you are looking for self-defense, I think you get the best of both in Jui Jitsu.

I also suggest boxing West. It is actually very good in the street because you do not have to lift the legs and the risk of a fall miscalculated. In addition, since you are in England, fencing is a great martial art. The slots in fencing can compliment most lift martial arts to cover the distance between you and the opponent.

I suggest you find some local martial arts schools and go to their introductory courses. Most schools offer these courses. It is a day or two to learn about martial arts and decide if you like. I learned that sometimes the school itself and the instructors make all the difference in the kind of martial arts you love.

I hope that all the information has helped and good luck on your trip! :)

I think that aikido, judo (good for street fighting, I think), and capoeira would all be good fits for you

tae kwon do and jeet kun do I think you could do both

but these are just my opinions

Your build is ideal for "All Martial Art.
With a little luck you can find a Thai school in your area.
If this is not a "good" school of karate suits your needs.

Some ideas: Kenpo (Kempo), Shotokan, Okinawa.

From what you describe you would be happy with Goju / Shorin you should well.Influenced by Master Itosu, who taught the founders of these methods was one of his maxims engage disengage the strike.

u should learn ur muy tai just cuz someone lighter and bigger, u could use ur knees better than most, but ur gay who cares if

Since martial arts are about using the momentum and force your opponent's own against it (most, if not most of the arts) you should not have to base your training outside of the stature physics. Personally, I train jiu jitsu, I can testify.
