How to remove the timber marks Even the greatest care of the environment, accidents can happen furniture. Do not despair, there are ways to help repair the damage and avoid a costly replacement.
Prevention is always better than cure. Although there are many commercial furniture spray cleaners, it's always a good idea once a month to add extra protection to your wood by applying a 100% beeswax. Ensure time is it applied is carefully polished into the wood leaving no residue.
Grease - Remove grease as soon as possible using a paper towel, id left untreated for a time, it will leave an indelible black. Wipe the area with a soft cloth that has been dipped in a solution of vinegar and water in equal parts.
Spots alcohol
Blot the spill immediately and rub the area with Brasso (metal polishing fluid). Then polish along the grain with a soft cloth.
Water marks
Blot as soon as possible that the water will unvarnished UN or waxed wood to swell. Let dry, then rub the stain as for alcohol, with a metal polish, making sure to rub along the grain of the wood.
Heat marks
To prevent heat marks use table mats to protect the wood. However, if damage does occur, rub metal polish along the grain or applying a paste of vegetable oil and salt. Leave for a couple of hours and Polish.
Light Burns
The veneer you may need to cut the damage and insert a new part, due to the thinness of the veneer. For solid wood proceed as follows. Rub the burn with metal polish, scrape and sand the surface. Place wet blotting paper on the mark, cover with glad wrap and leave overnight. Then polish as normal.
Severe burns
These professionals may require treatment, but if you feel confident to do it yourself, follow these steps. Scrape off the burnt part with a sharp knife. Fill the scar with matching wood filler. Let dry and sand with fine sand paper. Paint the area to match the grain with paintings by artists.
Teeth
Apply as soon as possible. Dented veneer may split and must be cut out and replaced. Fill out the tooth with warm water and let swell.
Scratches
Use a colored pencil corresponding to the wax or boot polish and rub into the scratch. Rub the polish with beeswax and a drop of linseed oil, polish well.
Paper Stuck
Paper that has been stuck in the wood may be removed by rubbing in baby oil. Leave it for a few minutes, then gently pull away to remove any residue with a dry cloth.
To Revive Dull Polish Make the following mixture. 2 tablespoons of turpentine, 2 tablespoons white vinegar, 2 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol and 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil. Mix well and apply with a soft cloth and dry.
To remove the excess polish
Mix vinegar and water in equal parts, apply with a damp cloth and dry immediately.
